クリエイティブな街づくりを推進する、世界の港町による文化交流プロジェクト BUILDING AND SUSTAINING INTER-CITY RELATIONS THROUGH CULTURAL EXCHANGE AMONG PORT CITIES OF THE WORLD
Now that we are not familiar with the unknown, why not keep coexisting with it and enjoy wandering and drifting with the ocean in pursuit of answers?
According to the dictionary, “lang-dang (浪宕)” indicates wandering without any purposes, while “lang-lang-dang-dang (浪浪宕宕)” refers to a carefree state of mind. The old warehouses, which constitute part of the Pier-2 Art Center, have firmly stood by the Port of Kaohsiung for a century, quietly going through transformations like a wanderer over a great span of history. The freedom of art and the vitality of the city have been fully displayed in this space packed with stories. Here, artists respond to the calls of the ocean and confront the waves with their art projects. Conflicts and the avant-garde have converged and formed a wonderful power.
We earnestly hope that through the annual “Waving Waves Community” project meeting, art institutions and artists all over the world together wander forward on the sea, blend art into this big community, and nurture more with their colorful art waves. Let’s ride on waves, establishing partnerships and coming together at Pier-2 warehouses by the Port of Kaohsiung. Let’s share ocean-oriented and research-based art projects with each other, and exchange new ideas just like how we cleave the waves in high spirits. Let’s build ties and give mutual support, seeking more possible answers to the unknown and wandering through our own way, free and undaunted.
