Annie Simpson

Annie Simpson (Cambridge, Massachusetts) is an experimental geographer, essayist, and video essayist. Her work draws from literary and media cultures to find points of contact with places consigned to the margins of geography. Through critical travelogues, she studies the ways socio-technical systems both structure these landscapes and actively participate in producing the conditions through which such places become perceptible, measurable, and acted upon. She is co-director of Port Futures + Social Logistics, a research platform for creative approaches to port-city-hinterland geographies. She received her doctorate from Harvard University, Graduate School of Design, where she was a Fellow with the Harvard Mellon Urban Initiative.
