クリエイティブな街づくりを推進する、世界の港町による文化交流プロジェクト BUILDING AND SUSTAINING INTER-CITY RELATIONS THROUGH CULTURAL EXCHANGE AMONG PORT CITIES OF THE WORLD
Kevin Groothuizen
Groothuizen is the director of CareX Groningen, an organization focused on temporary urban development projects in the province and city of Groningen, the Netherlands. CareX works on creating cultural incubators and creative hotspots, and is the largest housing organization in the north for artists — providing studios and living spaces that allow creatives to establish themselves in the region.
He also serves as a board member of the Art Indeed Foundation, a Groningen based arts organization that runs artist in residence programs, art and research projects, and art spaces for professional artists and designers from a range of disciplines.
Through his work at both organizations, Groothuizen is engaged in questions around how cultural programming and urban space can support creative communities — locally in Groningen, and in connection with broader international networks.
His involvement with Port Journeys stems from a shared interest in what port cities have in common: a history of exchange, openness to the outside world, and communities shaped by movement and encounter.
